I’m S.M. Ashraful Islam, a finance and business professional with hands- on experience in accounting, financial reporting, taxation, VAT, audit support, financial management, and business operations.
Over the years, I’ve worked with Meghna Cement Mills PLC and Bashundhara Industrial Complex Limited (part of Safwan Bashundhara Global), along with other corporate and manufacturing businesses. In these roles, I worked directly with the group CFO, Sr. DGM, DGM, Head of Compliance, and Head of Taxation Department, among others, on financial statement preparation and reporting — making sure everything stayed compliant with IAS, IFRS, ISA, BSEC requirements, Bangladesh Labour Law, the Taxation Act 2023, the VAT Act 2012, and Bangladesh Bank regulations.
Before that, I worked with MM Rahman & Co., Chartered Accountants, where I handled services for more than 40 entities — brokerage houses, listed companies, private companies, sole traders, manufacturing entities, a cigarette selling agent, an NGO, a Palli Bidyut Samity under PFKS, banks, insurance companies, and more. My main responsibilities there were reviewing the audit process, liaising with client entities, managing the engagement team, reviewing tax documents, and preparing tax and VAT filings in line with assessment orders.
That mix of experience has given me exposure to finance and accounting from several different angles. It’s given me a fairly complete picture of how businesses actually run day to day — not just how they’re supposed to run on paper. What I bring together is a mix of professional knowledge and real corporate experience. It’s this combination that lets me look at business issues from both a technical and a practical perspective, rather than relying on theory alone. I try to focus on what’s accurate, what’s workable, and what actually helps a business make better decisions.
